BIOGRAPHY

Avraham ‘Boolie’ Yehoshua, also known as A. B. Yehoshua is an Israeli novelist born December 9, 1936 in Jerusalem. He belongs to the fifth generation of Sephardic Jews living in Israel. Avraham Yehoshua embraced the career of a writer upon the end of his military service. He writes numerous novels and is considered one of the most brilliant contemporary authors in Israel and beyond. His books, translated into 28 languages, have won him numerous literary awards, including the prestigious Israel Literature Grand Prize for Lifetime Achievement in 1995. He received the 2012 Foreign Medici Prize for his novel Retrospective. Avraham Yehoshua is also committed to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and participated in the Geneva Initiative.
