A Letter to David is a cinematic letter addressed to David Cunio, who was abducted by Hamas from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, and remains a hostage in Gaza. Ten years after starring in Youth — Shoval’s debut film — David is revisited through never-before-seen footage and scenes from Youth, offering a sensitive reflection on memory, brotherhood, war, and creation.
DIRECTOR
Tom Shoval, a graduate of the Sam Spiegel Film School, gained recognition with Youth (Berlinale 2013, Best Film Award in Jerusalem). A protégé of Iñárritu and director of series such as The Echo of Your Voice, he continues in 2025 his exploration of memory and identity with this poignant documentary.
